enJOY today
I was determined to get outside today both for Blue’s sake and mine.
After yesterday’s N’orester I wasn’t sure what the conditions would be, yet I knew we both needed some fresh air and movement.
This week I am pondering and debating Joy. Do you find Joy? Do you choose Joy? Or do you create Joy?
I’ve come to believe it is a mixture of all three.
In the advent season, we are waiting in Joyful hope for the coming of the Savior. A power greater than ourselves to guide and to help us.
In my physical world, I am waiting in hope for this pandemic to end. To be reunited with friends and activities I love. To have the freedom of travel. To be connected with special family members.
And I have a choice.
I can wait in fearful hope. Or I can choose a joyful hope.
As my yoga instructor mentioned last week... Right now is all you’ve got.
Right now. Is ALL you’ve got.
Can’t change yesterday, that’s for sure. And I don’t know about you, but I have no idea where tomorrow will bring us.
So today, right now, I am enJOYing fun and lighthearted Christmas music. I am taking my body and soul out to the woods where I find Joy in nature and seeing my pup run about. I am sharing my Joy of cooking with little packages of Almond Roca.
When I am tempted to be irritated or short tempered or disappointed, I am choosing to find the Joy. The joy of standing in line at UPS and friendly conversations with others. The joy of good memories of those loved ones I have lost. The simple joys of a quieter, less hectic Holiday season.
As we draw closer to Christmas and deeper in winter, I encourage you to remember, Right Now is all you’ve got.
Even in the midst, or especially in the midst, of this Season and time - find Joy, choose Joy and create Joy
